So, I decided to take on the New York Times crossword puzzle today. I’ve always heard that it gets harder as the week goes on, starting easy on Monday and getting super tough by Saturday. And the Sunday one? That’s a whole other beast, apparently more like a Wednesday or Thursday level. Anyway, I figured, why not give it a shot?
I started filling in the blanks, feeling pretty good about myself. Then I hit a clue that read “You guys stink!” I thought, “What could that be?” My mind immediately jumped to words like “stink” or “stank,” you know, words that mean something was really bad. But those didn’t fit.
I kept plugging away, trying different combinations, looking at the intersecting words for hints. I even started thinking about some of the other clues I’d seen mentioned online. Like this one about a collaborator with someone named Steve, which turned out to be “Martin.” Or the clue about a senator’s footwear, which, get this, was “skate” because it was referring to the Ottawa Senators, the hockey team. Who knew? Certainly not me. I was totally clueless about “Foot-o-scopes” before this puzzle. That’s for sure.
But back to “You guys stink!” I spent a good chunk of time staring at that clue, feeling completely stumped. I even went online, searching for answers or hints. I saw a bunch of websites talking about this specific clue. Some said it had appeared on March 8th, 2024, and others mentioned it was a 4-letter word. There were tons of discussions about it. I saw things like “We solved this clue,” “Looking for NYT Crossword Clue Answer,” and “Here are the possible solutions.” It seemed like everyone was looking for this answer.
After what felt like forever, I finally stumbled upon the answer. It was “JEER.” “JEER”! Can you believe it? It wasn’t even a word about something smelling bad. It was about booing or mocking someone. All those websites I looked at were right. Some of them had the answer right there. “JEER” was the solution, and it had only 4 letters. Man, I felt so silly for not getting it sooner. But hey, at least I figured it out eventually, right?
Here’s how I finally pieced it together:
- I searched online for “You guys stink NYT crossword clue.”
- I read through several websites and forums discussing the clue.
- I noticed that the answer was a 4-letter word.
- I remembered that “JEER” means to make fun of or ridicule.
- I realized that “JEER” fit the clue perfectly.
- I entered “JEER” into the crossword puzzle.
- I completed the puzzle and felt a huge sense of accomplishment!
So yeah, that’s my story of how I finally conquered that “You guys stink!” crossword clue. It was a real head-scratcher, but I got there in the end. And now, I have a fun little story to share. Who knows, maybe I’ll try another crossword soon. But maybe I’ll stick to the Monday ones for now.
