Alright, so the other day I stumbled upon this crossword puzzle in the New York Times, you know, the one that gets tougher as the week goes on? Well, I decided to give it a shot. The clue that caught my eye was “Bordeaux red”. It sounded simple enough, right? Wine, France, should be a piece of cake. Boy, was I wrong!
Trying to Crack the Code
First, I started brainstorming. I listed out every word related to red wine that I could think of. Burgundy, Merlot, Cabernet, you name it. I jotted them down, trying to see if any fit the number of letters I needed. I felt like I was getting nowhere.
- Cabernet
- Merlot
- Pinot Noir
- Burgundy
The “Aha!” Moment
Then, after what felt like hours, I remembered reading something about Bordeaux wines a while back. I frantically started searching through my memory, trying to recall anything specific. And then, it hit me! Claret! That’s a word I’d seen used to describe Bordeaux red wines before. It fit the puzzle perfectly!
Feeling Pretty Darn Proud
I plugged it in, and bam! It worked! I felt a rush of excitement. I mean, who knew solving a crossword clue could be so satisfying? It’s funny how these little things can make your day. I actually found 40 potential answers while I was searching, but I only needed this one. Also, while I was looking at the crossword puzzle, I learned a little bit more about the game itself. For example, how to play it and some game tools I can use. It looks simple, just filling in the white squares with letters, forming words or phrases, by solving clues. Apparently, it gets more challenging from Monday to Saturday.
So yeah, that’s the story of how I conquered the “Bordeaux red” crossword clue. It was a fun little adventure, and I even learned a new word in the process. Now, I’m hooked! I might even try tackling the Sunday puzzle next time. Who knows what other words I’ll discover?
