Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again! Today, I want to talk about something that’s been on my mind lately – split jerseys. I got into this whole thing a few weeks back when I saw a guy rocking a jersey that was half Lakers, half Celtics. At first, I was like, “What in the world is this?” But the more I thought about it, the cooler it seemed. So, I decided to make my own.
First, I went on a hunt for the jerseys. Now, you gotta pick teams that have some kind of connection, right? Rivals, teams from the same city, that sort of thing. I ended up going for a classic Michael Jordan Bulls jersey and a New York Yankees pinstripe. I’m a big fan of both teams, even though they play different sports. I snagged them online for a pretty good price – you know I love a good bargain.
Once the jerseys arrived, I got to work. I laid them out on my kitchen table and started planning. The tricky part is making sure the logos and numbers line up right. You don’t want it looking all janky. I used a ruler and some tailor’s chalk to mark where I needed to cut. I’m not gonna lie, it was a little nerve-wracking cutting into these jerseys, but I took it slow and steady.
After cutting the jerseys in half, I had to sew them together. Now, I’m no expert with a needle and thread, but I do have a sewing machine that my grandma gave me. I watched a few YouTube videos to refresh my memory on how to use it – it’s been a while! It took a few tries to get the stitching straight, but eventually, I got the hang of it.
Here are some things I picked up during the process, and I thought I’d share them with you:
- Choose the right size: Jerseys are meant to be loose, so don’t worry too much about them being too big.
- Take your time: This isn’t a race. Make sure your cuts are clean and your stitches are strong.
- Have fun with it! This is your chance to get creative and make something unique.
The final product? A pretty dope split jersey that I’m proud to wear. It’s definitely a conversation starter, and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. I’ve even had a few people ask me to make one for them! It turned out to be a really fun project, and I’m already thinking about what my next split jersey will be. Maybe a classic baseball one and a vibrant soccer one? I don’t know. The options are endless.
Keep experimenting
I am telling you, making the spilt jerseys is so much fun! It might seem like a big deal at first, but it is not. Once you got your jerseys, all you need is a bit of patience. Also, it is a good opportunity to practice your sewing skills.
So, if you’re looking for a fun DIY project, I highly recommend giving this a try. It’s a great way to show off your team spirit and your creativity. Peace out, everyone!
