So, I’ve been trying to get into this Pokemon Go thing in Israel, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I mean, who knew catching virtual creatures could be so involved, right?
First off, I downloaded the app, that was the easy part. Then I started wandering around my neighborhood, phone in hand, trying to figure out what I was doing. I bumped into a few other people doing the same thing, so that was kind of cool, a little community right there. It seems like there are a lot of players here in the country.
I found out there are these things called “Pokestops” where you can get items. They’re usually at landmarks or, in Israel, what they call those “interesting places” around. I visited a few here in Jerusalem, and yeah, they’re pretty accurate with those locations. I mean, I was also learning about the city while catching Pokemon, so that’s a plus. You can find many people playing around.
Then there’s the whole “gym” thing. That’s where you battle other players’ Pokemon. I’m still a bit of a newbie, so I’ve been mostly practicing. I did join a few remote raids, which was pretty intense. You team up with other players to battle some big boss Pokemon. There’s a group online, mostly on Facebook, from what I can tell, that organizes these raids in Israel. They even have a whole system set up. You just sign in and see what is available.
I also noticed there’s a thing with friend codes. People share these codes, and you can add each other as friends in the game. I guess it helps with trading and sending gifts. I saw a bunch of codes specifically for players in Tel Aviv, saying they’re looking for certain types of gifts. It’s a whole other level of strategy that I haven’t even gotten into yet.
I did come across some rules of some sort, especially in these online groups. No one likes cheaters and rude people. It is kind of a nice touch, you know, it’s just a game after all.
Honestly, the best part has been meeting other players. I was in a park the other day, and there was this whole group of people, all ages, just hanging out and playing Pokemon Go together. They shared some tips with me, and we did a few raids together. It was a blast. They even helped me catch my first Pikachu!
So yeah, that’s my Pokemon Go adventure in Israel so far. It’s been fun, a bit confusing at times, but definitely a good way to explore and meet new people. Plus, I’m getting pretty good at throwing those Pokeballs!

My Pokemon Go Experience in Israel
It’s still a work in progress, but I’m getting there. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be a Pokemon master. Or at least, I’ll be able to take over a gym or two. We’ll see!
