Well now, let me tell ya, this Molly Davis gal from Iowa, she’s been through a whole heap of trouble. Last Sunday, during that big game against Ohio State, somethin’ awful happened. Right in the middle of the game, Molly went down, and I reckon it looked like she was in a world of hurt. She just crumpled there on the floor, holding onto her knee. It was a tough sight, I’ll tell ya that much.
Now, they say she tore her medial patellofemoral ligament – that’s a fancy way of saying she messed up a important part of her knee that holds the kneecap to the thigh bone. I don’t know all them big words, but I can tell you that’s one mighty serious injury. That’s the kind of thing that can keep a young lady off the court for a good while.
After that incident, they had to carry Molly off the floor. It wasn’t just a little hurt, no sir. She couldn’t even stand up on her own. And folks, when a player like Molly Davis can’t walk off the court, you know it’s something to worry about. They all rushed her off to get checked out, and before long, they said she’d be needing surgery.
Well, I don’t know much about surgeries, but I’ve heard they’re no fun. On Thursday mornin’, they went in and fixed her up. They repaired that torn ligament, so now she’s on the long road to recovery. It’s tough, but with a strong will, Molly’ll be back on her feet before we know it. They say she’s doing alright now, just takin’ it easy and letting that knee heal up.
But let’s talk about Molly for a second. She’s been a real star for the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team. Even though we’re all worried about her right now, we can’t forget the good things she’s done out there on that court. She’s been one of them players who’s always givin’ her all, playin’ hard and leadin’ her team. Folks like her, they don’t come around every day.
And don’t you go thinkin’ that this injury’s gonna keep her down forever. I’ve seen folks come back from worse, and I reckon Molly Davis is tough as nails. She’ll be back on that court before long, showin’ everybody what she’s made of.
So, while she’s recovering, the whole Iowa team’s gonna have to rally round and hold things together. It’s a tough blow, but them girls are tough too. They’ve got a good coach, Lisa Bluder, who’s been around long enough to know how to handle these kinds of setbacks. I’m sure she’s workin’ with Molly’s doctors and the whole team to get her back to her best self.
But ya know, sometimes, it’s not just the physical hurt that gets to ya. When you’re a player like Molly, and you’re used to bein’ out there on the court with your teammates, that emotional toll can be just as hard to deal with. I’m sure Molly’s wantin’ to be out there with her team, helpin’ them get wins. But she’s got good folks around her, and that’s gonna help her get through this tough time.
So, if you’re a fan of the Hawkeyes, keep your head up and keep thinkin’ good thoughts for Molly. She’s a fighter, and this ain’t gonna be the end of her career. It’s just a little bump in the road, and I’m sure she’ll be back before too long, better than ever.
