So, I’ve been messing around with different looks lately, and I got this wild hair to try and rock the Conor McGregor beard. You know, the full, kinda rugged thing he’s got going on. I figured, why not? Let’s give it a shot.
First off, I had to let my own beard grow out. This took some serious patience, let me tell you. I’m usually a clean-shaven kind of guy, so seeing my face get all fuzzy was a whole new experience. My wife kept giving me these sideways glances, like, “Who is this hairy beast and what has he done with my husband?” But I stayed strong, for the sake of the experiment, you know?
After a few weeks, I had a decent amount of growth going. It wasn’t quite McGregor level yet, but it was a start. I started looking at pictures of him online, just trying to get a feel for the shape and style of his beard. I even watched some of his fights, because, you know, why not get hyped up in the process? I noticed his beard is full all around and that the bottom is full and thick.
- Growing it out: This was the longest part. I just let it do its thing.
- Shaping: This is where things got tricky. I didn’t want to mess it up, so I went slow.
- Maintenance: Keeping it looking good takes some work!
Then came the scary part – the trimming. I grabbed my electric trimmer and, with a deep breath, started shaping. I tried to follow the lines of McGregor’s beard, keeping it thick on the chin and a bit shorter on the sides. It was definitely a trial-and-error process. I’d trim a little, step back, look in the mirror, trim a little more. There were a few close calls where I thought I’d totally botched it, but I managed to salvage it each time.
My take away
Honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It’s definitely a different look for me, but I kinda dig it. It’s got this whole “don’t mess with me” vibe, which is pretty fun. I’m not sure if I’ll keep it forever, but it’s been a fun experiment. Plus, now I can kinda, sorta, maybe say I look a little bit like Conor McGregor. Maybe in a very, very distant, squint-your-eyes-and-use-your-imagination kind of way.
The wife is still on the fence, but she’s warming up to it. She said she’s gonna be really excited when I go back to my normal look, but I think she’ll miss the lumberjack look when it’s gone. Who knows, maybe I’ll surprise everyone and keep it around. We’ll see. For now, I’m just enjoying the ride and seeing where this beard journey takes me.
It is a bit of work to keep it looking decent. I have to trim it regularly and use some beard oil to keep it from getting too scratchy. But hey, no pain, no gain, right? If you want to look like a champion, you gotta put in the effort. Or something like that. Anyway, that’s my story of trying to get a Conor McGregor beard. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m not done yet!
