Okay, so I’ve been wanting to map out the Quail Hollow golf course for a while now. It’s a famous course, you know? And I finally got around to doing it. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a project, but a fun one!
First off, I started by looking up the course online. I mean, you gotta know what you’re dealing with, right? I found a bunch of pictures of the course, especially the greens. That’s where the real action happens, after all. I saved a whole bunch of these images.
Gathering the Info
Then, I had to figure out the layout. I found some basic maps online, but they weren’t super detailed. They gave me a general idea of where each hole was located, but I needed more than that. I wanted to get down to the nitty-gritty, you know?
Putting it Together
So, I pulled out my trusty notebook and started sketching. I started with the first hole and worked my way through all 18. I used the pictures I found to try and draw the shape of each green and fairway. I wanted it to be as close to the real thing as possible, at least, in my own little way.
- Hole 1: Got the general shape, pretty straightforward.
- Hole 2: A bit trickier with the way it curved, but I think I got it.
- Hole 3: This one was fun to draw because it’s next to a big pond.
- …and so on through all 18 holes…
I noted the par for each hole as I went along. It’s a par 71 course, which I thought was kind of interesting. I also tried to figure out what kind of grass they used. Turns out, it’s Bent grass on the greens and Bermuda on the fairways. Fancy stuff, huh?
Finishing Touches
After I had all the holes sketched out, I went back and added some details. I drew in some trees, the water hazards, and even tried to mark the tee boxes. It took a while, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out. My map wasn’t perfect, but it felt good to put all the information together and see it as one whole thing.
Finally, I made some notes on the layout as a whole. Just thoughts about where the most challenging parts seem to be, and where the best views are probably at. I can only imagine what it’s like to actually play on this famous course. It’s definitely on my list now!
