Okay, so, I’ve been trying to keep up with this tennis player, Tommy Paul. He’s been doing pretty well lately, and I wanted a good way to see his upcoming matches and past results all in one spot. So, I started looking around online.
First, I just did some regular searches. Typed in stuff like “Tommy Paul schedule” and “Tommy Paul results”. Got a bunch of different websites, some sports news, some official tennis pages, the usual.
Then I tried to visit a couple of those websites that track player schedules. Some were okay, but they felt kinda clunky. It wasn’t super easy to just see Tommy’s stuff without clicking through a ton of menus, you know?
After that, I got the bright idea to try and make something myself. I figured, why not just pull the data and put it into a simple format that’s easy for me to read?
So, I spent some time looking into how to grab data from websites. Learned a few new things, which was kinda cool. It was a bit of a headache at first, figuring out the right tools and how to use them, but I eventually figured out some solutions.
My Process
- Found Data Source: I searched around and finally found a place that seemed to have all the info I needed.
- Figured Out Extraction: This was the tricky part. I explored a few different methods and had to do a lot of trial and error.
- Organized the Data: Once I had the info, I just wanted it to look clean and simple. So, I spent some time formatting it.
Finally, I got it working! Now I have a pretty neat way to see Tommy Paul’s schedule and his match results. It’s not perfect, but it does exactly what I wanted it to do. I can see when he’s playing next, who he’s playing against, and how he did in his last few matches. It is much more convenient than before.
It was a fun little project. Learned a few new things, and now I have a custom-made tool for tracking Tommy Paul’s tennis matches. Not bad for a few hours of work!
