Okay, so today I’m gonna talk about that Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey from Conor McGregor. You know, that UFC fighter guy? I saw it all over the internet and, well, I’m a sucker for trying new things, especially when it comes to booze. Plus, who doesn’t love a good story behind their drink?
Getting My Hands on a Bottle
First things first, I had to find a bottle. I checked out a couple of local liquor stores, but no luck. I guess it’s kinda popular, or maybe my town’s just behind the times. Anyway, I ended up ordering it online. It was pretty easy, found it on the main site. Few clicks, paid, and boom, waited for the delivery guy.
The First Sip
Package arrived, ripped that sucker open. The bottle looks pretty cool, I gotta say. Nice green color, simple label. So, I grabbed a glass, poured myself a decent amount, and took a whiff. Smelled like…whiskey. Maybe a little sweet?
Took a sip. It was…okay. Honestly, it wasn’t mind-blowing. It was smooth enough, I guess. Didn’t burn going down, which is always a plus. It tasted like your average, run-of-the-mill Irish whiskey. I get some vanilla, maybe a bit of honey, but nothing that really stood out.
Tried It a Few Different Ways
Neat: Like I said, it was decent. Not bad, not great. Just…whiskey.
On the Rocks: Threw in a couple of ice cubes. This actually improved it a bit. The cold brought out some of the flavors more, I think. Still not super complex, but definitely more enjoyable.
Mixed it in a Cocktail: Figured, why not? I made a simple whiskey sour. It was alright. The whiskey didn’t really shine through, but it didn’t ruin the drink either.
Final Thoughts
Look, it’s not a bad whiskey. It’s just…nothing special. I feel like you’re paying more for the name than the actual quality of the drink. If you’re a huge Conor McGregor fan, then yeah, maybe you’ll love it. But if you’re looking for a truly exceptional Irish whiskey, there are better options out there, and probably for a cheaper price.
Would I buy it again? Probably not. Was it fun to try? Sure. I’ll finish the bottle, no problem, but I won’t be rushing out to get another one.
If you’ve tried it, let me know what you think. Did I miss something? Maybe my taste buds are broken. Anyways, that’s my experience with Conor McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve. Cheers!
