Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Valorant, trying to get my settings just right, and one thing that kept popping up was FOV – field of view. I was like, “What the heck is the best FOV for Valorant?” So, I started digging.

First, I hopped into the game’s settings, expecting to find an FOV slider. I mean, most shooters have one, right? Nope! Valorant doesn’t let you change it directly. It’s locked. I later learned the FOV in Valorant is set to 103 and you just cannot adjust that through in-game settings, I mean, seriously?
So, I thought, what about stretched resolution? I’d heard some people talking about that. Maybe that could kinda, sorta, fake a wider FOV?.
I started experimenting. I went into my graphics card settings (it’s NVIDIA for me, but AMD should have something similar). I messed with custom resolutions, trying to get that stretched look.
My Resolution Experiments
- 1920×1080 (Native): This is my monitor’s normal resolution. Everything looked crisp, but, you know, standard.
- 1280×960: I saw this one recommended a lot. It definitely stretched things out. I could test enemy models looked a bit wider.
- Other Resolutions: Tried a few others, some wider, some narrower. Some looked super weird, others were okay. I felt like a mad scientist.
After a bunch of trial and error, I kinda settled on 1280×960. It made things feel a bit…wider. I’m not 100% sure if it’s actually better, but it does feel different, might have actually helped my aim, or at least I tell myself it did.
I’m still playing around with it, but that’s where I’m at. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s something!
