Okay, so the other day, I was totally stumped by a crossword clue. You know how it is, you’re cruising along, feeling all smart, and then BAM! You hit a wall. This one was “is in the past,” and my brain just froze. I stared at it for like, a solid five minutes, trying every word I could think of that might fit.

First, I tried the obvious stuff. I went through words like “was,” “were,” and “existed,”. Nope, nothing was * crossing letters weren’t helping at all.
Then, I started getting a little desperate. I even considered some weird, obscure words I barely knew, i’m not going to lie, that part felt a little silly.
My “Aha!” Moment
So, I decided to take a break, do something else, and just let my subconscious work on the puzzle. And finally get some help from some crossword-solving websites.
I just typed the clue into the search bar – “is in the past crossword clue” – and boom! The answer was right there. Turns out, there were a ton of different options depending on the number of letters and the other words in the puzzle.
I looked through this particular website, it gave me a bunch of possibilities. It had short ones, long ones, everything. And wouldn’t you know it! I saw it.
- The most likely answer, apparently, is “AGO”.
I slapped my forehead. Of course! “Ago!” It was so simple, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before. I plugged it into the puzzle, and it fit perfectly. Problem solved! From now on, I’m going to remeber this word.
It’s funny how sometimes the easiest answers are the hardest to see. That crossword clue totally owned me for a while, but hey, at least I learned something new. Now whenever I am doing the crossword, and see something about past, I would try this first!
