Okay, so today I decided to mess around with something I’ve been calling “Emanator of Cans.” Sounds weird, I know, but it’s basically just a fun little project to see if I could make something… well, emanate from cans.

First, I gathered my materials. This involved a trip to the garage and some rummaging around. Here’s what I ended up with:
- A bunch of empty aluminum cans (soda, mostly).
- Some strong fishing line.
- A small, battery-powered fan (the kind you clip onto things).
- Duct tape – because you always need duct tape.
- Scissors.
The Build Process
I started by cleaning the cans. Nobody wants sticky, old soda residue all over their… emanator. Then, I punched two small holes near the top of each can, opposite each other.
Next, I cut lengths of fishing line – maybe a foot or two long each. I threaded a line through the holes in each can and tied it off securely. So now I had a bunch of cans dangling from strings.
The tricky part was attaching the cans to the fan. I basically used a whole lot of duct tape to stick the ends of the fishing lines to the fan’s casing. I tried to space them out evenly, so it wouldn’t be all lopsided.
Once everything was taped up (and I mean really taped up), I flipped the switch on the fan. And… it worked! Sort of.
The Results
The cans started spinning and swaying around. They didn’t exactly “emanate” anything in a magical sense, but they definitely created a weird, kinetic sculpture. It was kind of mesmerizing to watch, actually. The cans clinked together a little, making a gentle, metallic sound.
It’s not exactly a high-art masterpiece, but it was a fun way to spend an afternoon. I might try adding some LEDs next time, to make it glow. Or maybe experiment with different sizes of cans. The possibilities are… well, limited, but still there!
