Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “tiafoe predictions” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I started out with absolutely zero clue, just a vague idea that I wanted to predict, I don’t know, something about Frances Tiafoe’s matches.

First, I scoured the internet. I mean, I went deep. Looking at match stats, past performance, head-to-head records – you name it, I was digging through it. It was a mess, honestly. Data everywhere, but nothing really organized.
Then I thought, “Okay, I need to get this stuff into some kind of order.” So, I started copying and pasting stats into a spreadsheet. Yep, good old manual labor. It was tedious, my eyes were starting to cross, but I kept at it. Slowly, I started to see some patterns, like how he performs on different court surfaces or against certain playing styles.
My simple attempts
- Guessing based on gut feeling: Seriously, the first few attempts were basically coin flips. Not very scientific, I know.
- Looking at rankings: Okay, slightly better than guessing, but still not great. Turns out, rankings don’t tell the whole story.
- Average Set win rate:I tried to caculate average set win rate on all his data to predict the next match, I felt so so, not bad.
I’m still not claiming to be a prediction wizard or anything, it’s just a fun project I am doing right now.
