Alright, so today I decided to dig into this whole “Killian Hayes bust” thing. I’ve been seeing it all over the internet, and honestly, I wanted to form my own opinion. So, I started by watching some old games.

Watching The Tapes
I pulled up some of his games from the 2023-2024 season, especially after he got benched. I wanted to see what was really going on with my own eyes.
- I focused on his shooting mechanics. I tried to see, is he really that bad of a shooter?
- I really Looked at his * the team has a good chance, he choose a good choice?
- I also paid attention to his defense. People like to talk about how big and strong, so dose he has ability to defend good guards?
Taking Notes and See What I Found
While I was watching, I grabbed a notebook and jotted down some observations.
For example, I found these notes:
- “Shot looks flat, not much arc.”
- “Hesitates a lot before taking open shots.”
- “Good court vision, but forces some passes.”
- “Gets beat off the dribble sometimes.”
Doing Some stat Research
After watching the games, I dove into some stats. I checked out his shooting percentages, assist-to-turnover ratio, and some defensive metrics. I compared them to other point guards in the league, just to get a sense of where he stood.
Forming My Conclusion
After all that, I finally sat down and thought about everything I’d seen and read. It wasn’t just about one thing. I took his age, his experience, the team around him, all of it into account. Because I want to say, looking at a player isn’t just about saying “good” or “bad.” It’s way more complicated than that.
Finally, I have an idea for Killian, hope he can get better soon.
