Okay, so I’ve been grinding Apex Legends pretty hard lately, like really hard. And you know what that means? I’ve been obsessing over Heirlooms. Specifically, which one I want to snag next. It’s a big decision, right? So I dove headfirst into figuring out the best way to make it happen.

The Hunt Begins
First, I needed a refresher on how the whole Heirloom system works. I mean, I knew the basics, but I wanted to get down to the nitty-gritty. So, I did some digging, you know, the usual: reading posts, and all of that.
Basically, you’ve got two main ways to get them:
- Luck of the Draw: Just keep ripping open those Apex Packs and pray to the RNG gods. You’re guaranteed one Heirloom after 500 packs, but you could get lucky earlier.
- Collection Events: These pop up every now and then. If you collect all the event-specific items, you unlock the new Heirloom. But, ouch, my wallet.
My Strategy (and Internal Debate)
I was thinking of collection events but the price is too high, so decided to go for luck of the draw.
So, here’s the plan I cooked up. It’s not rocket science, but it felt good to have some kind of direction:
- Maximize Free Packs: This is a no-brainer. Leveling up, completing those daily and weekly challenges, and grabbing the free packs from events. Every little bit helps!
- Treasure Packs: Five Apex packs per season, and they’re free in game.
- Battle Pass Grind: I’ve been slacking on the Battle Pass, I’ll admit it. But, I looked, and there are a good chunk of Apex Packs tucked away in there. Time to buckle down and get those tiers!
- The “Maybe” Purchase: Okay, this is the part I’m still wrestling with. If I get close to that 500-pack pity timer, and if I’m feeling impatient, I might… might… buy a few packs to push me over the edge. But I’m trying to hold off!
The Waiting Game
I’ve been sticking to my plan for a couple of weeks now. I gotta say, seeing that pack counter slowly tick up is oddly satisfying, even if it’s a slow burn. I’ve gotten a few nice skins along the way, which is a decent consolation prize.
I even made a little spreadsheet to track my progress, haha. I know, I know, it’s a bit much, but it keeps me motivated! It shows how many packs I’ve opened, how many I get each week, and how far away I am from that magical 500 number.
I hit open on my 250th pack… and… still no Heirloom. I’m going to start saving and spending at the collection events, it will be a little expensive but it is the easy way.

The hunt continues!
