Okay, so I saw this “Kirby Connell MLB Draft Projection” thing trending, and I got curious. I mean, who doesn’t love a good underdog story, right? And this Kirby guy, a lefty pitcher from Tennessee, sounds like he might just surprise some folks.

First thing I did was just a simple search. Nothing fancy, just wanted the basics. You know, his stats, what teams might be interested, that sort of deal.
I started digging into the stats. ERA, strikeouts, walks… the usual suspects. It seems like this Connell guy has really good control, and a pretty solid ERA which always gets my attention.
Next, I started looking for mock drafts. Man, there are a ton of these things out there. It’s kinda crazy. Some have Connell going in the later rounds, others have him much higher. So basically, there’s a very big chance to be a top 5.
I spent a good hour just reading through different scouting reports and opinions. Trying to understand the guy’s strengths and weaknesses, what makes him special. Some folks praise his “deception,” others talk about his “competitive spirit.” All good things. He got a good curveball, slider which sounds cool.
It’s always tough to say for sure where someone will land. But, based on my totally amateur sleuthing, I’d guess Connell goes somewhere in the middle rounds. He seems like a guy who could develop into a solid reliever, maybe even a setup guy. I think I predicted correctly!
