Alright, so I wanted to get this “Luxor” mod working in Fallout 4, right? I’d seen some screenshots and it looked amazing, really sprucing up the lighting and textures. Figured it would be a nice change of pace.

First thing I did was, you know, the usual. I went and found the mod page. Make sure you get it from a reputable place, don’t want any nasty surprises bundled in there.
The Download and Installation Struggle
Downloaded the files. It was a bit of a chunky download, took a little while, even with my decent internet. Once that was done, I had to actually get it into the game. Now, I’ve done modding before, but it’s always a bit of a…process. Sometimes it is really a headache!
- I use a mod manager—makes life so much easier. Highly recommend using one if you’re messing with mods. Seriously, save yourself the trouble.
- I fired up my mod manager and pointed it to the downloaded mod files. Pretty straightforward, just a few clicks and it started installing.
- Then, crossing fingers, it is time to launch the game!
Tweaking and Troubleshooting
So, the game loaded up, which was a good sign. But, of course, it wasn’t quite perfect right away. I noticed some weird flickering in a few spots, and the lighting seemed a little too intense in others. Back to the drawing board.
I went back to the mod page and read through the description and comments carefully. Turns out, there were a few recommended settings and even some compatibility patches for other mods I was using. Whoops, should’ve done that first, I guess.
- I grabbed those extra files, installed them through the mod manager again.
- Spent a good while fiddling with the in-game settings, trying to find the sweet spot. This part is always a bit of trial and error.
- Restart, restart, restart. Lots of relaunching the game to see the changes.
Finally…Success!
Eventually, after a bit of back-and-forth, I got it looking pretty darn good. The lighting was much more natural, the textures were sharper, and the whole atmosphere felt more immersive. Definitely worth the effort, even with the little hiccups along the way.
My main takeaway? Read the instructions! And don’t be afraid to experiment with the settings. Modding can be a bit finicky, but the results can be pretty awesome when you get it right.
