Alright, folks, today I’m spillin’ the beans on my little putter project inspired by none other than Rickie Fowler. You know, that orange-clad dude with the sweet swing? Yeah, him. I’ve been messin’ around with my putting game lately, tryin’ to find that magic touch, and his putter setup kinda caught my eye.

So, first things first, I started by watchin’ a bunch of videos of Fowler puttin’. Like, hours of footage. Payin’ attention to his stroke, his stance, and of course, that putter. I noticed he uses a pretty unique grip and his putter seemed to sit a bit different than mine. That got the gears turnin’.
Next up, I hit up my local golf shop. Didn’t wanna go buyin’ a brand new putter right away, so I asked if they had any used ones that were similar to Fowler’s. Found a couple that were close enough. One had a similar head shape and weight, the other had a grip that felt kinda like his. Snagged ’em both for cheap.
Then came the fun part: experimentin’. I spent a few days just messin’ around with the different putters on my practice green. Tried matchin’ Fowler’s grip as best as I could. Felt weird at first, I’m not gonna lie. But after a while, I started gettin’ a feel for it. Adjusted my stance a little bit, tryin’ to mimic his setup. It felt a little more natural, a little more aligned.
After a few weeks of fiddlin’ around, I noticed a slight improvement in my putting. Not a huge jump, but definitely noticeable. My distance control got a little better, and my accuracy was a tad sharper. I was makin’ more putts inside of 10 feet, which is a big deal for me.
I ended up combinining aspects of the two used putters I bought. I preferred the head weight of one, so I kept that. But I really liked the grip on the other. So, I bought a new grip similar to Rickie Fowler’s style and installed it on my preferred putter head. It wasn’t exactly the same as his, but it was close enough for me, and I liked how it felt.
So, there you have it. My little Rickie Fowler putter adventure. Did it magically turn me into a putting wizard? Nope. But it did help me improve my game a little bit, and that’s all that matters. Plus, it was a fun project to work on. Now, I’m off to the course to see if I can shave a few more strokes off my score!
