Okay, so I got curious about Xavier basketball the other day. You know, you hear the name tossed around during March Madness, and they seem to be consistently decent. Getting the Lay of the Land
Right away, a few names jumped out. Pete Gillen, Skip Prosser, Thad Matta, Sean Miller, Chris Mack, Travis Steele. Seemed like a pretty solid line of coaches passing through. It wasn’t just one guy there for 30 years. Looked like a place where coaches had success and sometimes moved on to other big jobs, but also a place that kept finding good replacements.

And that brought me to the current situation. I searched “Sean Miller returns to Xavier”. It was kind of a big deal when he came back after his time at Arizona ended. It felt like things had come full circle. He was back where he’d had a lot of success before.
So, putting it all together, my little research journey showed me a program that’s had remarkable consistency, even with coaching changes. They hire well, guys win, some move on, but they manage to find the next good coach. It’s quite a chain of success they’ve built there. It was interesting just following the thread from one coach to the next and seeing how the program kept rolling.
