Thinking About Tim Mickelson Today
So, I caught the news about Tim Mickelson the other day. You know, Phil’s brother, the guy who’s been carrying his bag for a while now. It got me thinking back.

I remember watching golf and seeing Tim right there alongside Phil. Been seeing that pairing since, what, 2017? Seems like just yesterday, but that’s a good few years walking the fairways together. Always looked like a pretty tight unit, the two brothers working together on the course. You could see them talking strategy, figuring things out.
Then I read that Tim’s decided to hang it up. Retiring from caddying, specifically. Phil mentioned it online somewhere. Said Tim wants to spend more time with his family. Honestly, I get that. Being on the road constantly, following the tour, that’s gotta be a grind, even if you’re with your brother. Family time is important stuff.
It really makes you pause for a second. Deciding to step back from a big role like that, especially when it involves family. It takes guts, I reckon. He was there for some big moments in Phil’s career lately. Sharing those wins must have been something else.
- Saw him there through thick and thin.
- A long stint carrying the bag.
- Now choosing family – respectable move.
So now Phil’s got a new caddie stepping in. Read a name somewhere, Jon Yarnbrough I think? Whoever it is, they’ve got some experience to live up to, following Tim.
Anyway, just my thoughts on it. It was definitely something special seeing those two brothers working side-by-side at that level. Like Phil said, it was beyond special for him too. A chapter closing for them, for sure.
