Y’all probably heard about that Tom Brady feller, huh? Big ol’ quarterback for them New England Patriots, real famous one, they say. Now, this here story ain’t about football or none of that, it’s about somethin’ that got folks chattin’ real loud. See, Brady, he kissed his son, Jack, on a show they made called “Tom vs. Time.” And, lordy, some people, they just couldn’t let it go.
Now, I’m a bit old-fashioned, but I reckon a father kissin’ his son ain’t nothin’ to raise a stink about. In the world we live in today, folks sure get their feathers ruffled over the darndest things. But this here kiss, it wasn’t no quick peck on the cheek neither. Folks said it was a long one, a real long one. Some folks even said it made ‘em uncomfortable watchin’ it. I reckon that’s just ’cause they don’t know much about family love, or maybe they ain’t ever had a daddy who showed ‘em affection like that.
Now, let me tell you, Brady’s got three young’uns—Jack, Benjamin, and Vivian. Jack there is his oldest, and he’s 17 years old. So, he ain’t no little bitty kid anymore, but Brady, he still loves on his boy, and there ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. Brady’s been open about wantin’ to make sure his kids know their daddy’s got their back, no matter what. He said somethin’ like, “Dude, you’re gonna be a stud,” talkin’ to Jack about basketball or somethin’. And that’s the kind of stuff dads say to their sons when they wanna build ’em up, make ‘em feel like they can take on the world.
But anyway, folks on the internet sure did start talkin’, and some of ‘em thought that kiss was just a bit much. Now, I don’t know about y’all, but I’m sittin’ here wonderin’ what’s so wrong about showin’ love to your own kin. I mean, shoot, when I was young, I’d give my babies a kiss, a hug, or a pat on the head, just so they’d know I loved ‘em. Ain’t no harm in that. So, why’s it such a big deal now?
Now, Tom Brady and his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, they’re no longer together, but they sure did raise them kids right. I reckon, though, they’re probably used to folks watchin’ ’em and judgin’ ’em. When you’re a celebrity like Tom, you get put under a magnifying glass, and everything you do gets picked apart. They put that kiss on a documentary series, and well, that’s when the fuss started. Now, you can’t hardly do anything in front of a camera without people pointin’ fingers.
Tom Brady ain’t the only one who’s had his fair share of criticisms, though. These famous folks, they can’t hardly sneeze without somebody tweetin’ about it. But it’s mighty hard to keep up with all that, especially when folks don’t understand where you’re comin’ from. The way I see it, Brady was just bein’ a dad, showin’ his love. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that.
People sure do have different ideas about what’s right and what’s wrong when it comes to families. Some folks think a dad should be tough, not show no emotion, and just teach their kids to be strong. Others think a dad should hug and kiss his kids and show ‘em every day how much they mean. I reckon there ain’t no one-size-fits-all answer. What works for one family might not work for another.
But let’s get back to the kiss. Tom Brady, he’s a big ol’ man, sure, but I don’t think that means he can’t love on his kids. He’s been real open about his family, about how much he cares for ‘em. He’s a dad just like any other, tryin’ his best to raise his kids right and show ‘em the love they need. It don’t matter if he’s a football player or a farmer, love is love. So, I say, let folks show their affection how they see fit, without all the judgment. Ain’t nobody’s business but theirs.
And that’s all I gotta say about that, folks. You can’t control how others love their families, and I don’t think we should try. Ain’t no harm in a little kiss, especially when it’s from a daddy to his son. Maybe some folks oughta mind their own business and let Brady be the dad he wants to be.
