Okay, let’s talk about getting into Micah Parsons cards.

Starting the Hunt
So I started watching the Cowboys more, you know? And this guy, Parsons, he just jumps off the screen. Every game, seems like he’s making a play. Got me thinking, maybe I should grab some of his rookie cards before they get too crazy.
First thing I did, really, was just dig through some old boxes I had. You never know what might turn up, maybe from a pack I opened ages ago and forgot about. Didn’t find any Parsons, obviously, he’s too new. But it got me back into the sorting mood.
Then I actually went down to a couple of local card shops. Just wanted to see what they had, what the prices looked like in person. Talked to the owners a bit. One guy had a few base rookies, nothing too shiny yet. Picked up a couple just to get started. Felt good to actually hold them.
Digging Deeper
After that, I started looking online more seriously. Not really auction sites at first, more like browsing checklists and seeing what different cards even existed. Panini has so many sets, it’s kind of nuts.
- Prizm
- Donruss Optic
- Select
- Mosaic
Saw all these different parallels, the shiny ones, the numbered ones. Decided I should probably focus. Just getting one of everything seemed impossible, and honestly, way too expensive. Maybe just focus on the Prizm rookies? Or maybe Optic? Liked the look of those.
Building the Stash
Ended up grabbing a few more base cards from different sets. Donruss Rated Rookies, Score rookies, stuff like that. Cheap and easy to find. Then I started hunting for some specific ones. Saw a cool looking Prizm Silver online, managed to snag one that wasn’t graded for a decent price. Felt like a win.
It gets addictive, though. You get one, then you see another cool one. Maybe a die-cut, or one with a different color border. Started checking prices more often, seeing what things were selling for. Had to tell myself to slow down a bit. It’s just cardboard, right? But it’s fun cardboard.
I keep them all in penny sleeves and top loaders now. Got a couple of those cardboard storage boxes just for Parsons cards. Sorted them by set, mostly. Makes it easier to see what I have and what I might still want.

Still Going
Haven’t gone for any super high-end stuff yet. No autographs or patches. Maybe someday, if I find one for a price that doesn’t make me faint. For now, just enjoying picking up the different rookie parallels and inserts when I see them.
It’s just a fun process, you know? The searching, the finding, adding it to the stack. Seeing him play well makes it feel a little cooler too, like you got in at the right time. We’ll see how he does, but yeah, collecting his cards has been a good time.
