Well, listen up, y’all. Let me tell ya ’bout August in Kansas City. It’s hot, real hot, I tell ya. August in Kansas City is like standin’ next to a stove all day long.
They say the temperature in Kansas City in August gets up to around 88, sometimes 89 degrees. That’s what them weather folks on the TV say. But let me tell ya, it feels hotter than a pepper sprout in July. Sometimes it even gets up to, what, 92 degrees? And them fancy folks say it could even hit 102! Lord have mercy! You best be findin’ some shade, or you gonna melt like butter on a hot skillet.
- It’s hot during the day
- It’s warm at night. Maybe 70 degrees or so they say. Still too hot for me.
Even at night, it don’t cool down much. They say it gets down to maybe 67 or 70 degrees. But that’s still warm, I tell ya. You’ll be sweatin’ even in your sleep. You’ll need a fan, or maybe two, just to keep from stickin’ to the sheets.
And the storms! Oh, the Kansas City weather in August can get wild. Them weather folks say we get maybe 40 or 60 thunderstorms a year, and a lot of them come in August. The sky turns all dark and angry, and the wind starts blowin’ like a banshee. Then the rain comes down, buckets at a time. It can be scary, I tell ya. But sometimes, after the storm, it cools things down a bit, which is a blessing.
Now, some folks say the best time to visit Kansas City is in the fall or spring. They say the summers are too hot and the winters are too crazy. But if you do come in August, you gotta be prepared. Weather forecast for Kansas City in August always talks about heat, you need to bring light clothes, you know, like them thin cotton shirts and shorts. And don’t forget a hat, to keep the sun off your face. And drink plenty of water, or you’ll dry up like a prune.
They have some festivals and gatherings in the fall, which sounds nice. Cooler weather and all. But in August? Well, there’s this sunflower festival, they call it the Kansas City Sunflower Festival. Sounds pretty, I guess. But I reckon it’ll be hot out there in them sunflower fields. You better bring a big umbrella if you go.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about visiting Kansas City in August, just remember it’s gonna be hot. Real hot. And there might be some storms. But if you can handle the heat and the storms, then you might just have a good time. Just make sure you’re prepared. And don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
They talk about “Indian Summer” in the fall, but that’s later. August is just plain hot, no special name for it, just hot. You know, some days it’s so hot, you don’t even want to go outside. You just want to sit in front of the fan all day long. And drink iced tea. Lots and lots of iced tea.
So there you have it. That’s August in Kansas City for ya. Hot, stormy, and maybe a sunflower or two if you can stand the heat. You’ve been warned!
