Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Tyler somethin’-somethin’, I think they called him Tyler Hibbler, or somethin’ like that. This here movie, “Waves,” it’s all about him, a young’un, real good at sports in high school, ya know, one of them star athletes. He’s got a daddy, Ronald, real strict, always pushin’ him hard. Like, real hard, you know what I mean?
This Tyler, he’s got it all, friends, a pretty gal named Alexis, parties, the whole shebang. They’re livin’ it up down in South Florida, sunshine and all that. But let me tell ya, things ain’t always sunny, no sirree. Life throws ya curveballs, and this boy, he gets a big ol’ whopper.
Somethin’ terrible happens, a real tragedy, and it just tears the whole family apart. I ain’t gonna spoil it for ya, but it’s bad, real bad. Tyler, he just can’t handle it, all that pressure from his daddy, and then this… it’s too much.
- He’s got this girlfriend, Alexis.
- His daddy’s always on his back.
- Then somethin’ awful happens.
He does somethin’ stupid, real stupid. He tries to run away, but the police, they catch him quick. And Alexis, that poor girl, somethin’ bad happens to her too. Paramedics are rushin’ around, tryin’ to save her. It’s a mess, a real heartbreaker.
This movie, it ain’t no sunshine and rainbows story, that’s for sure. It shows ya how one bad decision, one moment of anger, can just ruin everything. It makes ya think, ya know? About family, about pressure, about how easy it is to make a mistake you can’t take back. It’s about forgiveness too, but gettin’ there, it ain’t easy.
Now, they talk about this Tyler’s hair sometimes, wavy hair they call it. I don’t know much about fancy hair names, but apparently, there’s all sorts of wavy hair. This Tyler, he’s got the kind that’s kinda straight at the top and then gets all wavy at the bottom. Sounds like a mess to me, always gettin’ tangled up. They say you gotta use a special comb, a wide-toothed one, so you don’t damage it. Sounds like a whole lotta fuss to me. Back in my day, we just brushed our hair and got on with it.
Anyway, this movie, it’s a lot. It’s about this Tyler kid, but it’s about more than that. It’s about family, love, loss, and findin’ your way back from the darkness. It ain’t an easy watch, but it makes ya think. And sometimes, that’s what a good story is supposed to do.
It ain’t all clear cut, ya know? Life ain’t like that. Sometimes good people do bad things, and sometimes bad things happen to good people. This movie, it shows ya all that, the good, the bad, and the ugly. And it leaves ya wonderin’, what would I have done? It’s a tough question, ain’t it?
So, if you’re lookin’ for a feel-good movie, this ain’t it. But if you want somethin’ real, somethin’ that’ll stick with ya, give “Waves” a try. Just be warned, it’ll make ya cry. And it’ll make ya think. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll make ya a little bit wiser.
