Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about this King and Queen of the Ring thing, the star ratings and all that jazz. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just tellin’ it like I see it.
So, they had this big ol’ wrestling show, right? King and Queen of the Ring, they called it. Folks were punchin’ and kickin’ and flippin’ all over the place. Now, some fellers, they keep track of how good these matches are. They give ’em stars, like stars you see in the sky at night, but these are for wrestlin’.
- One feller, Dave Meltzer, he’s a big deal in this star-givin’ business. People listen to what he says. If he gives a match a bunch of stars, folks think it’s real good.
- Then you got these other folks, like at TheSportster, they got their own way of rankin’ these matches. They tell ya which ones were the best and which ones were, well, not so good.
Now, this King and Queen of the Ring show, it had some matches that folks really liked. There was this feller, Gunther, he became the King. Beat Randy Orton, he did. And some gal named Jax, she won the Queen part. Beat a bunch of other gals, Naomi and Jade and Bianca. Folks were cheerin’ and hollerin’.
They had this other match too, for the Intercontinental Title. Sami Zayn, he won that one. Beat two other fellers, Bronson Reed and Chad Gable. That match, it got some stars, not as many as some, but still pretty good. Folks voted on it, gave it a 6.10, whatever that means. It’s all numbers and stars to me, but folks seem to care.
There’s this feller, Ospreay, they say he’s got the most of them five-star matches. That’s a lot of stars, I tell ya. Means he’s real good at this wrestlin’ thing. They even had this match, Cody and Dustin Rhodes, brothers they were, fightin’ each other. That one got a bunch of stars too. And another one with a feller named MJF, that one got stars. See, it ain’t just about punchin’, it’s about tellin’ a story, makin’ folks feel somethin’.
Then there’s this old match, Bret Hart and his brother Owen, way back in 1994. That one, it got five stars too. It was a real battle, they say. Brothers fightin’, that’s always somethin’ special, even if it’s just wrestlin’.
So, that’s the deal with these star ratings. Some folks, they get all worked up about ’em. Me, I just like to watch the wrestlin’. If it’s good, it’s good. If it ain’t, well, I’ll just go get myself another cup of coffee. But these stars, they help folks figure out what to watch, I guess. And they give these wrestlers somethin’ to aim for, somethin’ to brag about. So, it ain’t all just for nothin’.
But let me tell ya, wrestlin’ wasn’t always like this, with all the fancy moves and stars. Back in my day, it was just good ol’ fashioned gruntin’ and groanin’. But times change, I guess. Now they got all these high-flyin’ fellers, jumpin’ off the ropes and what not. Makes my head spin just watchin’ it. But hey, if folks like it, that’s all that matters. And if some fellers wanna give it stars, well, let ’em give it stars. It don’t hurt nobody.
So next time you’re watchin’ the wrestlin’, and you hear about these star ratings, you’ll know what they’re talkin’ about. It’s just folks tryin’ to say how good a match was. And sometimes, them stars, they can help you find a real humdinger of a fight. But don’t take my word for it. Watch it yourself, and see what you think. That’s the best way to do it.
Wrestling matches can be fun to watch, win or lose, good stars or bad stars. It’s a good show. Just don’t take it too seriously, it’s all just entertainment and fun. Enjoy it.
