Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Sean Strickland. Folks keep jabberin’ about him, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, you know?

Now, they say he’s a fighter, a real tough one. Been fightin’ since 2008, that’s a long darn time. I reckon he’s been punchin’ and grapplin’ since he was a young’un. They call it “mixed martial arts,” sounds fancy, but I bet it just means he knows how to throw a good punch and wrestle a fella down. He’s in somethin’ called the UFC, sounds important, I guess. They say he was even the champion at one point, the middleweight champion they call it. Guess that means he’s pretty good at beatin’ up other fellas his size.

This Strickland fella, he’s got a record, they say. Twenty-eight wins and five losses. That’s a lot of fights, ain’t it? Means he’s been busy. He’s been winnin’ a bunch lately too, four in a row they say. That’s a good streak, like when you win at bingo a few times in a row. Makes ya feel lucky, I guess.

He’s a Striker: Means he likes to punch, I reckon. Like my old man used to say, “Keep your hands up and your chin down.”
He’s a Grappler: That means he wrestles, tangles people up on the ground. Like tryin’ to catch a greased pig, I imagine.
He’s Got a Strong Chin: Means he can take a punch, ain’t no glass jaw, that’s for sure. Some folks just can’t handle a good smack, but this fella, he can.

Now, some folks say he’s got a lot of “potential.” That just means he could be even better, I guess. Like a good ol’ cornfield that just needs a little rain and sunshine to grow taller and stronger. He’s got a coach, too, some fella from a place called Xtreme Couture. Sounds expensive. That coach fella, he talks about Strickland’s “surprising performance” in Sydney. Guess he did somethin’ unexpected, maybe knocked someone out real quick, or maybe he just fought harder than people thought he could.

They talk about his “road to his second straight main event.” Sounds like he’s a big deal now, gettin’ to be the main fight of the night. That’s like bein’ the headliner at the county fair, everyone’s there to see you.

I heard tell he knows a fella named Sam Alvey, met him a long time ago at somethin’ called Team Quest. They still get along, which is nice. It’s good to have friends, even when you’re beatin’ folks up for a livin’.

This Strickland fella, he ain’t shy about talkin’, they say he says some “controversial and outlandish” things. Guess he likes to stir the pot, get folks riled up. So, that’s what I know about Sean Strickland. Tough fella, good fighter, likes to talk, and probably makin’ a good livin’. Sounds like he’s got it all figured out, or at least he’s tryin’ to. Just another fella makin’ his way in the world, like the rest of us.
