Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these wwe arabic wrestlers. I don’t know much about fancy fightin’ or nothin’, but I watch it sometimes when the grandkids are over. They holler and cheer, and I just sit there, knittin’ and lookin’ up every now and then.
Heard tell of this girl, Aliyah. They say she’s the first Arab woman to do some big things in that wrestlin’ world. First Arab woman to be in the main event on that there Smackdown show. Can you believe it? A girl! My old man woulda flipped his lid. He thought girls should be cookin’ and cleanin’, not fightin’ in front of a bunch of people.
- Her real name, somethin’ like Nhooph Al-Areebi. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it?
- They say she’s half Syrian and half Iraqi. Lands far away, I reckon. Never been there myself.
Then there’s this Sami Zayn fella. He’s from Canada, but they say his real name is somethin’ Arabic, Rami Sebei. He’s been wrestlin’ for a long time, since 2002 they say. Heard he used to go by Stevie McFly, which sounds like a silly name to me, somethin’ out of a picture show.
And what about this Mansoor Al-Shehail? They call him the first Saudi Arabian wrestler. Must be a big deal over there, bein’ the first to do somethin’. Heard he’s pretty famous, one of the most famous Arab athletes, they say. Makes a lot of money too, I bet.
These fellas and girls, they travel all over. They get cheered, they get booed, but they keep on fightin’. It’s like a big soap opera, my grandkids tell me. One minute they’re friends, the next they’re enemies. I can’t keep up, honestly.
Now, I heard tell that WWE, that’s the wrestlin’ company, they got a big deal with the Saudis. Ten years, and a whole lotta money, 500 million dollars they say! That’s more money than I ever seen in my life. The Saudis must really like their wrestlin’. And the wrestlers, they like that money, I’m sure of it.
You know, it’s funny, thinkin’ about these Arab wrestlers. Back in my day, you didn’t see many folks from those parts on TV, let alone wrestlin’. Times have changed, I guess. Now you got all sorts of people from all over the world doin’ all sorts of things. Makes you think, don’t it?
This Roman Reigns fella, they say he’s a big deal too. Not Arabic, far as I know, but the grandkids talk about him all the time. The biggest draw in wrestlin’, they say. Means he brings in the crowds, I reckon. Must be a strong fella, like them old-time strongmen you used to see at the county fair. Liftin’ weights and bendin’ metal. These wrestlers are kinda like that, I guess, but they do it in a fancy ring, with lights and music.
I don’t know much about that other fella, Moxley. Heard they fought someone named Warner, and someone named Flair. Sounded like a mess of a fight to me. That Flair fella, he said he’d never wrestle again, then he changed his mind. Folks change their mind all the time, nothin’ new there. Just like my grandson, he says he hates green beans, then he eats them all up when I make ’em with bacon.
So, there you have it. That’s about all I know about these wwe arabic wrestlers, and some other ones too. They fight, they travel, they make money, and they keep the folks entertained. It ain’t my cup of tea, mostly, but it’s somethin’ to watch when there’s nothin’ else on the TV. And it’s kinda nice seein’ all these different folks, from all over the world, doin’ their thing. Makes the world seem a little bit smaller, you know?
It’s a different world now, that’s for sure. More people from different places doin’ things you wouldn’t expect. And that’s alright, I reckon. Change is gonna happen, whether you like it or not. Just gotta roll with the punches, like them wrestlers do.
