Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this here Phoenix Open Leaderboard thing. Don’t know much about fancy golf, but I can tell ya who’s winnin’ and who’s not, just like I know when the chickens ain’t layin’ right.
So, this fella, Scheffler, he’s doin’ pretty good. They say he’s like the king of golf now, number one or somethin’. Beat that other fella, McIlroy. Guess he wasn’t so hot after all. These young fellas, always jumpin’ around, tryin’ to be the best. Reminds me of my grandkids fightin’ over the last piece of pie.
Now, they play this here golf game at a place called TPC Scottsdale, in Arizona. Hot place, I reckon. Hotter than my kitchen in July, that’s for sure. They got this whole list, the leaderboard they call it, tellin’ you who’s where. Like who’s on top, who’s in the middle, and who’s bringin’ up the rear.
- Scheffler – He’s the top dog, like I said. Seems like he’s playin’ real good.
- McIlroy – Used to be the best, but not no more. Maybe he needs more practice, or maybe he just had a bad day. Happens to the best of us.
- Rahm – This fella thinks he’s the best, but he ain’t. Number three, they say. Gotta do better than that if you wanna be the king.
They got all sorts of scores and numbers on that leaderboard. Don’t understand half of it, to be honest. Too many numbers for my old brain. But I know that lower is better, like when you’re countin’ eggs, fewer broken ones is good.
This here Phoenix Open, it happened in 2024, 2022, and even 2021. They do it every year, I guess. Like plantin’ season, comes around regular as clockwork. And every time, they got a new winner, or sometimes the same fella wins again. Just like how sometimes the same ol’ rooster crows the loudest.
You can find this leaderboard on the internet, they tell me. On somethin’ called ESPN and Flashscore. Don’t know nothin’ about that, but my grandson showed me once. Looked like a whole lot of words and numbers jumbled together. Made my head spin.
They got stats too, whatever that means. Course stats, player stats. Too much information, if you ask me. I just wanna know who won and who lost, simple as that. Like knowin’ which tomatoes are ripe and which ones are still green.
And they talk about earnin’s, too. How much money these fellas make. Must be a lot, playin’ that golf game. More money than I ever seen in my life, that’s for sure. Enough to buy a whole lotta chickens, I reckon.
So, that’s the gist of it, this here Phoenix Open Leaderboard. Scheffler’s on top, McIlroy’s not, and Rahm’s tryin’ to catch up. They play in Arizona, it’s hot, and there’s a lot of money involved. That’s all you need to know. Don’t need no fancy words or complicated numbers. Just plain and simple, like good ol’ country livin’. And just like plantin’ season, you can bet next year there gonna be another leaderboard and whole passel of new names trying to be the best. Just the way it is.
And listen here, they also mentioned somethin’ about some fella named Shohei Ohtani hittin’ a home run. And somethin’ about Jose Altuve. Don’t know what that gotta do with golf, maybe they got the sports mixed up. City folks, always confusin’ things. Anyway, that’s all I got to say about this here leaderboard thing. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
Remember one thing, this golf game, it’s just a game. Win or lose, the sun still gonna rise tomorrow. Just like my rooster still gonna crow. Life goes on, y’all. Life goes on.
