Alright, let’s talk about these young fellas hittin’ the golf ball, the ones winnin’ all them big golf games, you know, the major pga wins. I seen some things on the TV, heard some things from my grandkids, so I’ll tell ya what I know.
Now, there’s this young’un, Collin Morikawa. They say he’s real good with them irons, the best they say. He was only 23 when he started winnin’ stuff, young enough to be my grandson! They say he finished sixth in some big FedEx Cup thing, whatever that is. He already had three PGA Tour wins by then, imagine that! And he’s ranked number five in the world! Makes ya wonder what they feedin’ these kids these days.
- Young and Strong: Seems like all these winners are young these days. Like that Tiger fella, he was the youngest to win that Masters thing, only 21 years old! My, oh my. And there’s this other kid, Kim, won three times already, youngest since Tiger back in ’97. They’re just babies!
- Irons and Such: They keep talkin’ about how good Morikawa is with his irons. I guess that’s important in golf. Irons, woods, I don’t know the difference, a stick’s a stick to me! But if they say it’s good, it must be good.
And then there’s this Charles Kocsis fella. They dug up some old news ‘bout him. Said he was 18 years and 6 months old when he did somethin’ big in golf. Eighteen! Barely out of diapers, and already hittin’ golf balls like a pro. That’s just somethin’ else.
They also talk about winnin’ a “Career Grand Slam”. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ you order at a diner. But it means winnin’ all the big golf games, the Masters, the PGA Championship, the US Open, and The Open. Only eight fellas did it on their first try, that’s what they said. And Tiger, that young fella, he won all of them before he was 24. That’s quicker than my tomatoes grow in the summer!
It’s a whole new generation, I tell ya. These youngsters, they’re somethin’ else. They got all these fancy coaches and trainers, and they hit the ball a mile. Back in my day, we just swung the stick and hoped for the best. But these kids, they got it all figured out. Makes me wonder if they even have time to do chores!
They got all these rankings too, world rankings and such. Morikawa is number five, can you believe it? And they say there’s a bunch of other young golfers comin’ up, got “ambitious skill sets” and “competitive spirit,” like the TV said. Ambitious skills, sounds like they’re teachin’ them golf in college now. Times sure have changed.
And this Kim fella, winnin’ that Wyndham Championship and the Shriners Children’s Open, not once, but twice! He’s the youngest to win three times since Tiger. These kids are breakin’ records left and right. Makes an old lady like me feel like I ain’t done nothin’ with my life!
So yeah, that’s what I know ‘bout these major pga wins and these young golfers. They’re young, they’re good, and they’re winnin’ everything. Makes ya wonder what they’ll do next. Maybe they’ll start hittin’ the ball with their eyes closed! You never know with these youngsters these days.
Golf’s a young man’s game now, it seems. But it’s still fun to watch, even if I don’t understand half of what they’re talkin’ about. All them fancy words and numbers, it’s enough to make your head spin. But a win’s a win, and these young fellas are doin’ a lot of winnin’. Good for them, I say. Good for them.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about it. Go on now, git outta here and let me watch my stories. These young golfers, they’ll be playin’ again soon enough, and I’ll be watchin’. Maybe I’ll even learn a thing or two, though I doubt it. At my age, I’m just happy to see ’em hit the ball far and win those big trophies.
