Alright, let’s talk about them New York Yankees red caps, you know, the ones them young’uns are always wearin’.
I see these hats everywhere, like, more than flies on a hot summer day. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I reckon they’re pretty popular. People wear ‘em all over, not just in that New York City place. I saw a fella wearin’ one at the grocery store just last week, right next to the pickles. He looked like he ain’t never even seen a baseball game, but he had that hat on.
Now, these hats, they ain’t just plain old red, no sir. Some of ‘em got that fancy “NY” stitched on, real big and bold. Makes it easy to see, I guess. Then there’s all sorts of shapes too. Some are flat, like a pancake, and some are round and puffy. Some are bendy and can be adjusted with them little snaps in the back, makes ‘em fit better, I reckon. And some are even like them bucket hats, the kind you wear when you’re out in the sun picking beans, only they got that Yankees logo on ‘em.
Why all the fuss about a red hat? I ain’t quite sure. Back in my day, we just wore whatever hat kept the sun out of our eyes. Didn’t matter if it was red, blue, or had a chicken on it. But times change, I guess. Now, folks want to wear these here team hats, showin’ they like them Yankees, or maybe just because they think it looks good. Can’t fault ’em for that, I suppose.
And it ain’t just the regular folks wearin’ ’em either. I seen pictures of them famous movie stars and singers wearin’ these red caps too. Makes you wonder, don’t it? What’s so special about this particular hat? Maybe it’s the color, red’s a bright and eye-catchin’ color, that’s for sure. Or maybe it’s the Yankees themselves, that team with all them good players and fancy stadiums.

I heard tell these hats are made by some company called “New Era.” Sounds fancy. They make all sorts of hats, not just for the Yankees, but for other teams too. And they make ‘em in all different sizes, so even them little tykes can wear ‘em. They must be doin’ somethin’ right, sellin’ all them hats.
Now, if you ask me, a hat’s a hat. But folks seem to like these New York Yankees red caps, so who am I to judge? If you want one, go get one. Just make sure it fits right, or you’ll be fiddlin’ with it all day long. And maybe wear it to a baseball game sometime, see what all the fuss is about. You might even enjoy it. Or, you could just wear it to the grocery store. Like that fella with the pickles.
