Scott Franzke, that fella on the radio
Ya know, that Scott Franzke fella, the one on the radio? Been hearin’ him blabberin’ ’bout the Phillies for a good long while now. Seems like forever. They say he started yappin’ ’bout the games way back in 2006. That’s a mighty long time, ain’t it? Lordy, I was probably still milkin’ cows back then.
Folks ’round here, they really like listenin’ to him. Say he’s got a way with words, makes the game come alive. I reckon that’s important, especially when you can’t see what’s goin’ on. He yells and hollers when somethin’ excitin’ happens. Makes ya jump outta your seat sometimes, even if you’re just sittin’ there knittin’.
Heard tell he got himself a new contract, gonna be stickin’ around for a while longer. That’s good, I guess. People get used to hearin’ the same fella on the radio, ya know? Like that old weatherman, always talkin’ ’bout rain. Comfortin’ in a way, even if he’s wrong half the time.
- Scott Franzke’s been yappin’ since 2006.
- Folks say he makes the game sound real excitin’.
- He got a new contract, ain’t goin’ nowhere.
They was talkin’ on the radio the other day ’bout how he took over from that Harry Kalas fella. Harry, he was somethin’ else. Voice like butter, smooth and rich. Scott, he’s different, more… energetic, I guess you could say. Gets all worked up, spittin’ and sputterin’ when things get tense. Reminds me of my old rooster, always crowin’ at the top of his lungs.
Remember that time Bryce Harper hit that big home run? The whole town was buzzin’ ’bout it for weeks. Scott, he went plumb crazy on the radio, screamin’ and shoutin’ like he’d won the lottery. It was somethin’ else, let me tell ya. Even got me all riled up, and I don’t even understand half of what’s goin’ on in them baseball games.
Some folks say he’s the voice of summer ’round here. I guess that makes sense. You hear him on the radio all the time, drivin’ in your car, sittin’ on the porch, workin’ in the garden. He’s just… there. Like the crickets chirpin’ at night or the cicadas buzzin’ in the trees.
Now, they’re sayin’ he might be doin’ some TV stuff too. Gonna be talkin’ on the TV instead of just the radio. Well, good for him, I reckon. He’s a talkative fella, that Scott Franzke. Always got somethin’ to say. Probably chatter the ears off a donkey if you let him.
Scott Franzke and the Phillies, a long story
It ain’t just about yellin’ and screamin’ though. He knows his stuff, that’s for sure. Talks ’bout all them players like he knows ’em personally. Knows their stats, their strengths, their weaknesses. Reminds me of my grandpappy, he could tell you everything ’bout every horse in the county.
He talks ’bout the World Series and all them important games. Makes it sound like the biggest thing in the world. And maybe it is, to some folks. Me, I’m more worried ’bout the price of eggs and whether the tomatoes are gonna grow this year, but I reckon it’s nice to have somethin’ excitin’ to listen to on the radio.
Heard he was only 36 when he started. Land sakes, that’s just a young’un! And now look at him, all growed up and famous. Time flies, don’t it? One minute you’re chasin’ chickens in the yard, the next you’re listenin’ to some fella on the radio talkin’ ‘bout baseball.
So yeah, that Scott Franzke. He’s alright, I guess. A bit loud sometimes, but he means well. And he sure does love them Phillies. Just like the rest of us ’round here. We might not always understand what’s goin’ on, but we cheer ’em on anyway. That’s just what ya do.
He’s been through a lot with them Phillies, I bet. Ups and downs, wins and losses. Seen it all, probably. Just like me and my old garden. Sometimes it flourishes, sometimes it fails. But ya keep on plantin’, keep on tryin’. That’s life, ain’t it?
And that’s all I gotta say ‘bout that Scott Franzke fella. He’s on the radio, he talks ‘bout the Phillies, and folks seem to like him. Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits.
