Listen up, y’all, lemme tell ya ’bout this fella, David Benavidez. Folks keep askin’, “Why David Benavidez is suspended?” Well, it ain’t a pretty story, that’s for sure.
See, this boy, he’s a fighter, a boxer. Big and strong, hands movin’ like lightnin’. They call him “The Mexican Monster,” though I ain’t never seen no monster ‘cept the one under my bed when I was a kid. He was doin’ real good, winnin’ fights, climin’ up the ladder, talkin’ big ’bout how he was gonna be the best, gonna whup this Canelo fella everyone’s yappin’ about.
But then, bam! Things went south. They say he got caught doin’ somethin’ he shouldn’t. Somethin’ ’bout a “positive drug test”. Yep, seems like he had some bad stuff in his system, stuff that ain’t allowed in boxin’. They got this program, see, the “WBC Clean Boxing Program” they call it. Fancy name, but it just means they check if you’re cheatin’ by takin’ drugs to make ya stronger or faster.
- He messed up, plain and simple. Took somethin’ he shouldn’t have.
- They caught him, and now he’s gotta pay the price.
Now, I ain’t no doctor, I don’t know all the fancy names of them drugs. But I know right from wrong. And takin’ drugs to get an edge? That ain’t right. It ain’t fair to the other fellas who are fightin’ clean.
This “suspension”, that’s what they call it when they ban ya from fightin’ for a while. It’s like puttin’ ya in the corner to think ’bout what ya done. And they even took away his title, “title dispossession” they call it. All that hard work, all that braggin’, and he throws it away for some drugs. Makes ya shake your head, it does.
I heard tell he was supposed to fight this Canelo fella, but he kept messin’ around. “David Benavidez intentionally forfeited three opportunities to face Canelo”. Folks say he was scared, but I don’t know about that. Maybe he was just makin’ excuses, tryin’ to get more money, who knows? Boxers, they’re a strange bunch, always talkin’ big and then doin’ dumb things.
He went up in weight, too. From super middleweight to light heavyweight. “Benavidez moved up from super middleweight to light heavyweight”. Maybe he thought he could run from his problems, but trouble follows ya, like a stray dog lookin’ for a handout.
Some folks say Canelo is duckin’ him, avoidin’ the fight. “Canelo is NOT ducking David”. But I reckon it’s the other way around. Benavidez messed up his chances, and now he’s gotta live with it. He coulda been somethin’ special, coulda been the best. But he chose the wrong path, and now he’s payin’ the price.
So, why David Benavidez is suspended? ‘Cause he cheated, plain and simple. He tried to take a shortcut, and it backfired on him. Now he’s gotta sit on the sidelines and watch while other fellas take his place. It’s a shame, really. He had talent, he had the power. But he didn’t have the sense to stay clean.
Maybe he’ll learn his lesson, maybe he’ll come back stronger. But right now, he’s just another fella who messed up and got caught. And that, my friends, is the truth. No sugar-coatin’ it. He messed up, and now he’s gotta face the music.
Boxing is a tough business. You gotta be strong, you gotta be dedicated, and you gotta be honest. If you ain’t got all three, you ain’t gonna last long. And David Benavidez, well, he learned that the hard way.
