Well, let’s talk about this Devon Achane fella, you know, the one they say plays football. I don’t know much about these games, but I heard folks talking, so I figured I’d tell ya what I gathered.
This Achane kid, he’s a runner. That’s what they call a “running back” I think. Means he carries the ball and tries not to get tackled, kinda like when them chickens get loose in the yard, only with more people chasing him. They say he plays for the Miami Dolphins, which sounds fishy to me, but what do I know? Dolphins ain’t fish I reckon.
Now, they got all these numbers, “stats” they call ’em. Makes my head spin, but I’ll try to make sense of it. Seems like this boy, Achane, he’s been doing alright. They say he ran for 800 yards in his whole career. That’s a lot of running, I tell ya. Imagine running from here to the next town over, and then some! And he did it in, what, 103 tries? That’s like, he gets the ball, runs a bit, then they tackle him, and he does it again and again. Must be tiring.
- Career Yards: 800 yards (that’s a whole lotta runnin’)
- Attempts: 103 (so many times getting tackled, poor boy)
This year, 2023, they say he ran for 420 yards in 8 games. That’s still a lot of running, even if it ain’t as much as the other number. And he scored 5 touchdowns. I guess that’s like when you get the ball over the line, or somethin’. They cheer real loud for that, I hear. And he gets, like, 45.8 yards every game, on average. That’s like, every time he plays, he runs almost halfway across a field. These fields are mighty big, mind you.
He’s a fast little fella too, I hear. They clocked him running 40 yards in 4.32 seconds. That’s faster than a jackrabbit, I betcha! And he ain’t a big guy, only 5 foot 9 inches and 185 pounds. But he’s quick and shifty, they say. Like a greased piglet at the county fair. Hard to catch, that one. He had this one long run, 76 yards! Can you believe it? That’s like running through two whole yards and past more. Musta been somethin’ to see.
They say he’s a good pick for this “fantasy” football thing. Don’t ask me what that is, sounds like make-believe to me. But folks seem to like him for it. They say he’s a “surefire start,” whatever that means. I guess it means he’s good, and they expect him to do well. They learned that last year, apparently. He played in 11 games and did real good, so they say. He had 93 carries and like I said before a whole bunch of yards. These young fellas sure are something.
So, that’s the lowdown on Devon Achane, as best as I can tell ya. He runs fast, he scores touchdowns, and he’s a good pick for your… fantasy team, or whatever. He plays for the Miami Dolphins, and he’s a running back. And he’s 5 foot 9 and 185 pounds, in case you were wondering. He runs for about 45.8 yards per game in this season, but has a whole lot more in his career. And he had one run that was 76 yards, real long. He runs a 4.32 40 yard dash which sounds mighty quick. They say he is an every lineup starter in fantasy football. He’s been playing all through the 2023 season. He sure sounds like a busy young man.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens before they tear up the garden again. All this talk about running and football has made me tired, and I didn’t even do any of the running!
