Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this fella, Brian Eovaldi. He’s a baseball pitcher, you know, the kind that throws the ball real fast. Folks are talkin’ ’bout him gettin’ a new contract with the Rangers, that’s a Texas team, y’all.
Now, I heard tell they give him a whole lotta money, somethin’ like seventy-five million dollars. Can you believe that? That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life! They say it’s for three years, so that means he’s gettin’ paid a whole heap every year. Must be nice to be throwin’ balls for a livin’!
They signed him durin’ some meetin’s they had, same day another fella, Max Fried, went off to play for the Yankees. That Fried fella, he got even MORE money, somethin’ like two hundred and eighteen million. Land sakes, where do they get all this money?
Eovaldi, he’s been playin’ for a good long while, thirteen years they say. He’s thirty-four years old, almost thirty-five, which is gettin’ up there for throwin’ balls. But he still pitches good, won twelve games last year and only lost eight. That’s pretty good, I reckon. He had somethin’ they call a “3.80 ERA,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though.
- Seventy-five million dollar contract, that’s a lot of dough!
- Three-year deal, means he’s set for a while.
- Plays for the Rangers, a Texas team.
- Been playin’ baseball for thirteen years.
This ain’t his first time with the Rangers, no sirree. He played for them last year too, got paid somethin’ like thirty-four million for two years. That’s a whole lot less than this new contract, so I guess he must be pitchin’ real good. They sure do like him in Texas.
Now this new contract, it’s got what they call a “signing bonus,” twelve million smackeroos just for signin’ on the dotted line! They ain’t givin’ it all to him at once though. They gonna give him six million after 2026 and another six million after 2027. Guess they don’t want him runnin’ off with all the money at once.
Some folks were worried ’bout how old he is and if he gets hurt easy. He missed some games a few years back, had some troubles, I hear. But I guess the Rangers don’t care too much ’bout that. They figure he’s worth the money, bein’ a good leader and all, knowin’ what to do in them important playoff games.
He made twenty-nine starts last year, that means he pitched in twenty-nine games, startin’ ’em off. That’s a lot of throwin’! His arm must be tired. He’s won ninety-one games in his whole career and lost eighty-one. Sounds like he’s won more than he’s lost, so that’s a good thing.
So, that’s the story on Brian Eovaldi, this baseball pitcher. He’s gettin’ paid a whole bunch of money to throw a ball for the Rangers. Hope he does good for them, spendin’ all that money on him, they surely expect him to win some games. It’s a funny ol’ world, ain’t it? Throwin’ balls for millions of dollars… I tell ya!
Folks keep talkin’ ‘bout this contract, sayin’ it’s a good deal for the Rangers, gettin’ a good pitcher even if he’s gettin’ a bit old. Some say it’s a risk, payin’ that much money to an older fella. But I reckon them Rangers know what they’re doin’. They wouldn’t be spendin’ all that money if they didn’t think he was worth it.
Anyways, that’s all I know ’bout this Brian Eovaldi fellar. He’s a baseball pitcher, plain and simple, and he’s gonna be playin’ for the Rangers for a while now, and makin’ a whole lotta money doin’ it.
