This Reed, he’s lucky, you know? Got two folks who played for that Kentucky team. Big stars, they were. His mama, too. Stacey Reed, that’s her name. She was a good player, that one. I hear she gave him his name and learned him the game. That’s what a mama does. She was somethin’ else on that court. You wouldn’t believe it, back in the 90s, everyone was talking about her.
- Reed, he’s got a sister, too.
- Jeff and Stacey, they were both big deals at Kentucky.

Stacey, she was a star, too. One of the best in that, what do they call it, SEC? Sounds important. She’s a good woman, that Stacey. Feeds hungry kids, I hear. Works for that Backpack thing. Good for her. Always good to help folks out.
So, this Reed Sheppard, he comes from good stock, you see. His daddy, Jeff Sheppard, and his mama, Stacey Reed. They were both somethin’ on that court. And now he’s gonna play for that Houston team. Good for him. Big shoes to fill, with a daddy like that. But he’ll do alright. You can just tell.

That Jeff Sheppard, he was a real standout, they say. Won all sorts of awards. Then he went and played for that pro team. Not many folks can say that. He must have been real proud. And Stacey, too. She was right there with him, playin’ her heart out for Kentucky.
Now their boy, Reed Sheppard, he’s gonna be a big star, too. Just you wait and see. He’s got it in his blood, you know. Basketball, it’s just what they do. That whole family. It’s like they were born to play. And they got a good family, too. That sister, and the parents. All good folks.
I remember when Jeff Sheppard was playin’. Everyone was talkin’ about him. He was the big man on campus, as they say. And now his son’s following in his footsteps. It’s a good thing to see. Makes you feel good, you know? Like things are the way they should be.
