Well, well, well, lookie here, what we got today? We gonna talk about that Spanish La Liga, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, huh? It’s some kinda football thing over in Spain. They kick a ball around and try to get it in a net. Just like our boys used to do down by the creek, ‘cept I reckon these fellas get paid a whole heap more.
So, this La Liga, they say it’s been around since, oh, I don’t know, way back when, 1929, maybe? Before my time, that’s for sure. Seems like they been kickin’ that ball around for ages. They got a bunch of Spanish La Liga winners, teams I mean. And these teams, they play each other, and the one that wins the most, they get to be the champ. It is just that simple.
- Real Madrid, now that’s a name I heard before.
- Barcelona, ain’t that where they got them fancy dancers?
- And then there’s this Atletico, sounds like a medicine.
They say this Real Madrid, they won the most. 36 times they been the champs. Thirty-six! Can you imagine? That’s more than all my grandkids combined, and I got a whole mess of ’em. They must be somethin’ special, these Real Madrid folks. They say they won most recently, too. This past year, 2023-2024, they won it again. Must be good at kickin’ that ball, I reckon. It is good to have a good list of Spanish La Liga winners, it makes people understand who is the best team.
And this Barcelona, they ain’t no slouches either. They won it 27 times. Twenty-seven! That’s still a heap of winnin’. They got all kinds of trophies, these teams. Not like the ones we used to get at the county fair for the biggest pumpkin, but I suppose they’re pretty important to them.
They got this Copa del Rey thing, that’s another trophy. And a Supercopa, sounds like somethin’ you’d eat, but I guess it’s another trophy. And some Eva Duarte thing, and a Liga cup. Lordy, they got more cups than my kitchen cabinet!
This Atletico, they won it 11 times. Not as many as them other two, but still, 11 is nothin’ to sneeze at. They did somethin’ special back in ’96, won two things at once, a double, they called it. Like gettin’ two scoops of ice cream instead of one, I suppose.
Nine teams, that’s all that’s ever won this thing. Nine out of, well, I don’t know how many teams there are, but it seems like a small number. It’s like only a few families in our town ever winnin’ the lottery. Same ones over and over again. It is not easy to be the Spanish La Liga winners.
They say this La Liga is the best in Spain. The top dogs, you might say. They been playin’ for a long time, and only nine different teams ever won the whole shebang. It’s like that time old man Johnson won the pie-eatin’ contest five years in a row. Nobody could beat him, not even that skinny fella from the next town over who could eat a whole watermelon in one sittin’.
This football thing, it’s a big deal over there in Spain. Like our county fair is a big deal here. Except I reckon their fair lasts all year long, and they don’t have no prize-winnin’ hogs or nothin’ like that. Just a bunch of fellas kickin’ a ball around. So many people like to watch the list of Spanish La Liga winners, because they all want to know who is the best team in Spain.
They keep track of all the winners, every year. Who won, who lost, who cried, who laughed. Just like we keep track of who won the blue ribbon for the best apple pie every year at the fair. It’s important to folks, I guess. Keeps things interesting.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Spanish La Liga and their list of Spanish La Liga winners. It’s a whole lot of somethin’ about nothin’, if you ask me. But folks seem to like it, so who am I to judge? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I hear my stories callin’. And I got a hankerin’ for a slice of pie. Maybe I’ll even enter it in the county fair this year. Who knows, maybe I’ll be a winner, too.
